UK-based independent developer 24ct Penguin Games is to bring classic horror to PC gaming in Winter 2011/12 with the release of spine-tingling adventure role-playing game, HEX: The Calling.

Set to feature a rich and compelling story line inspired by a mix of Celtic mythology and Gypsy folklore, HEX: The Calling tells the story of a young woman called Amelia Mallory and her journey of self-discovery as she uncovers the hidden truth of her past.

An adventure role-playing game, HEX: The Calling is being developed in a retro 16-bit inspired visual style, brought up to date with custom effects to deliver an unsettling, under-the-skin atmosphere.

Features

  • Compelling storyline built upon traditional myths and folklore from Celtic and Gypsy peoples
  • Role-play adventure and puzzle-based gameplay
  • Unnerving and absorbing atmosphere
  • Unique Hex battle system to create added depth and flexibility to battles
  • Multiple endings

“We’re bringing together a rich tapestry of folklore from two very distinct cultures to create a solid foundation on which to build Amelia’s tale of loss and discovery,” said Ray Smith, Creative Director at 24ct Penguin Games. “Add to that the eerie atmosphere and engaging gameplay, and HEX: The Calling will provide indie gamers with a compelling and chilling experience this Winter”.

HEX: The Calling will be available Winter 2011/12 on PC via digital download. For more information, or to check out the screenshots, visit the official website.
