Mousechief, the indie devs behind Dangerous High School Girls In Trouble and The Witch’s Yarn will release their new narrative adventure 7 Grand Steps: What Ancients Begat on June 7, 2013. The games will be available from Steam and from Mousechief.com for $15, and can be played on Mac or PC. Mouschief has already released a beta version through the Humble Store, and players who’ve already purchased a beta version will be able to download the finished game.
7 Grand Steps: What Ancients Begat will blend different popular game styles into one narrative. Parts of the game were inspired by the coin-operated retro amusements at San Francisco’s Musee Mechanique, other parts resemble family growth and nurturing from The Sims or the dynasties in Rome: Total War. I can also see some similarities to tech trees in games like Civilization, and the storyline text is more than the length of a novel. (I would expect nothing less from the creators of Dangerous High School Girls In Trouble.) Here’s the gameplay video:
7 Grand Steps received honorable mention for narrative at the 2013 Independent Games Festival. You can check out at demo on their website. I’m really looking forward to seeing the finished game.[Via MouseChief ]
