cyberpunk 2077 art

Who doesn’t love a bit of Cyberpunk in their life? It really is a fantastic oddball genre that has (I feel) a great deal going for it currently. More and more games are beginning to incorporate this fantastic and often times bazaar theme. This is fantastic news for me as I love the genre dearly. Earlier this week CD Projekt RED announced their new title Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk 2077 is set in the world of Mike Pondsmith’s (one of the grandfathers of the genres) pen and paper role playing game Cyberpunk. The studio aim to stay true to Pondsmith’s vision in creating a faithfully represented world in video game format.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be a gritty modern RPG using an atmosphere inspired from the well known William Gibson novels, Blade Runner and the pen and paper game Cyberpunk 2020. Players are thrown into this dark future in the year 2077, into a world in which advanced technology has become both the salvation and curse of humanity.

CD Projekt RED aim to have a multi-thread nonlinear story with the main aim being at mature players. Which may come as no surprise to any of you who have played any of the studio’s previous titles. They also aim to bring in some of the classic well known areas from Cyberpunk 2020 into this new game, to show how the world has changed in the past 57 years.

The aim, like it would seem many titles try for these days is to make a sprawling sandbox of the world. This will allow players to experience the future just how they like. This sounds to be a very interesting and ambitious title from CD Projekt RED but I for one am really looking forward to see the results. Follow all the latest developments of Cyberpunk 2077 here.
