A remake of the XBLIG retro platformer Aban Hawkins & the 1000 SPIKES is in the works by Nicalis who say will be bringing it to the Wii U Online Shop and Nintendo 3DS eShop.
When we took a look at Aban Hawkins and his challenging retro platformer last year, we were very happy with the game’s style, challenge and overall existence. Now it has been announced that the game is being remade for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS by Nicalis, who similarly brought Cave Story to the Wii and are looking to do the same with La-Mulana.
Aban Hawkins & the 1001 SPIKES will be a full remake of the game with new art, music, graphics and sounds. Not only that, but the game will feature a 4 player local multiplayer mode too. The same harsh, punishing difficulty is to be expected so presumably you’ll be trying to worm your way through the various tombs with 1001 lives steadily dwindling away. You can expect plenty of new tricks and traps and with them new ways of being killed – sounds good to us!
1001 SPIKES is die to hit the 3DS eShop later this year and seems to have been proposed as a launch title for the Wii U via its Online Shop, though the release of Nintendo’s new console is still unknown. You can still grab the original from the XBLIG marketplace of course.
More information on the original Aban Hawkins & the 1000 SPIKES is available via the game’s official website.
Thanks Go Nintendo!
