A week in review, the best free and maybe-should-be-free games of the week for August 23 to August 30, 2009
All games free unless otherwise noted.
Adventure
78641 – A Targ Adventure (GZ Storm)
You play as a frying pan who comes back fix his life… and nonsense ensues. Play is a pixel-based click adventure with trial and error in a Groundhog’s Day-style.
Experimental
Rationalization (Mike Treaner)
Along the lines of experimentation with your surroundings as Daniel Benmergui, Rationalization challenges you to find the solution by manipulating the very small amount of set pieces available to you.
Platformer
Waker (Poof Games)
Runner up
Tower of Heaven (Askiisoft)
Puzzler
Guardian Rock (Stefan Ahlin)
The idea is to slide the ‘Guardian Rock’ around the levels and crush all the explorers, except you can’t stop moving until you hit a wall and with all those spikes around, well, it gets difficult. And then he has to go to the exit on top of it. Tough and fun.
Mine Tower (Ha55ii)
Pierre: Insanity Inspired (Rundown)
Shooter
August Wind (Jeremy Spillman)
A top-down flight shooter done for a senior project by Spillman for his Bachelor project at the Zürich School of the Arts. Nice artstyle, though missions are yet unfinished.
