Nyrthos

BeerDeer Games have announced their upcoming multi-platform action-RPG, Nyrthos, and are asking people to sign up for beta access right now.

Nyrthos is an upcoming 2D action-RPG for the PC, iOS and Android devices which runs on an in-house engine that showcases some beautiful isometric artwork. The developers say that Nyrthos will be a fairly typical RPG experience with the usual crafting, looting, exploring, upgrading and so on; but players can also buy houses, even found villages and further income by managing resources from there on. Apart from the story mode which is of your typical RPG scenario, there are also survival modes in which the player fights against hordes of enemies to earn their honor. The story is summed up below as described to us:

“The land of Nyrthos is being slowly consumed by an unknown darkness. The council of elder mages embarked to investigate the eastern border, but has not been heared from ever since. 23 days ago, the pillars of fire were ignited. The whole continent prepares for a war… a war that was fortold by the ancestors, yet no-one knows the reason for it or the enemy they will stand against.”

As we mentioned, one of the most intriguing elements of Nyrthos is the visuals and the developer’s say they have worked hard to get that eye-grabbing look:

“We always loved the feel of 2D games and though it takes a lot of work, we are convinced that the result is worth it. In the flood of 3D and/or cartoonish games of today that often look cool but somehow generic, I believe Nyrthos will be a great refreshment for many eyes.”
