Today, Serious Brew and partner Doppler announced that pre-orders are being taken for the upcoming release of the Cargo Commander soundtrack.
The soundtrack is being sold on a pay-what-you-want model, with a minimum price of $3.88 (€3). The entire soundtrack will be available December 5th, but pre-ordering immediately unlocks the iconic “Down the Drain” song that plays throughout the home container. Doppler is releasing the soundtrack in MP3, FLAC, and other formats.
Cargo Commander released earlier in the month, and we highly recommended it in our review. We gave it a very positive 91%, and stated that it could be a contender for Game of the Year.
Cargo Commander has players controlling a freshly-hired cargo commander, a man tasked with entering and scavenging through abandoned storage containers found floating through space. The game is based out of a home container (where “Down the Drain” is heard playing) where players must attract stray containers using the magnets attached to the side of the home container. Once a stray container has been caught, players must drill into the containers and hope that they don’t find too many nasty surprises inside.
After a random amount of time, a black-hole opens and begins sucking the stray containers away. Players must dash back to the safety of the home container to avoid being pulled into the black-hole. This “black-hole rush” has players scampering through previously explored containers, rapidly retracing their steps while the containers fall apart around them, and nasty little critters of all sorts chomp at their heels the entire way.
