All Are Kings have released a video to explain the gameplay mechanics of their rather slick looking iOS platformer, Forerunner.
At first sight, Forerunner bears a resemblance to Outland which can only be a good thing. It’s a ‘run forever’ type game built for iPhone (iPad version on the way) that has the player tapping and swiping to manoeuvre around the deadly obstacles. At the player’s disposal are jump, long jump, mid-air jump and even a slide (are you sure this isn’t Outland?). The last manoeuvre is basically a mid-air swipe which transcends in the game to a dash towards the floor. With this, the developers seem to have been able to craft a pretty challenging game by the looks of it. Although tapping and swiping is all that is required, making the decision of what to do in split second timing with a single failure causing an imminent death, can only be described as a hardcore gaming practice.
Yes that’s right, this is a hardcore platformer for iOS and we are pretty eager to get out hands on it. Forerunner will be released on December 1st on iPhone, so look it up on the App Store from that date onwards. You will be able to download Forerunner for free and receive 6 levels and the ‘run forever’ mode, or you can upgrade at a cost of just 99 cents and unlock all 25 levels.
Now, it’s over to the slightly nervous developers show you their game:
