Shuggy Duggy: ‘The Adventures of Shuggy’ Coming To PC Via Steam

The Adventures of Shuggy, the quaint little 2D puzzle-platformer from Smudged Cat Games, will be getting the Steam treatment when it releases soon on PC.

Having been released through the Xbox Live Arcade service last June, the game didn’t quite manage to garner the commercial success its developers felt it deserved. In bringing The Adventures of Shuggy to home computers through Valve’s ever-popular digital distribution service, the powers-that-be at Smudged Cat are hoping that a wider audience will yield more sales for its beleaguered platformer. Whether or not such a ploy will be successful remains to be seen, but we’re confident that, with a good marketing campaign behind it, Shuggy newcomers might very well be pleasantly surprised by what they see.

Sporting a stylish comic book-inspired visage and a fresh, colourful aesthetic finish, Shuggy brings a plethora of exciting game mechanics to the table. Its bells and whistles range from time travel to rotating levels and right through to zombie transformation, and they’re all backed up by a series of comic book cutscenes. Players can sift through in excess of 100 levels set in five areas of the harrowing mansion in which the eponymous Shuggy finds himself, with the game’s predominant platforming sections interspersed with a handful of frantic boss battles.

The Xbox 360 version of the game also includes two-player co-operative play and an online head-to-head mode, but we’re yet to hear whether or not these features will carry over onto the PC edition. Also in the air is the actual release window for the game’s PC port, but we’ll keep you posted on any updates as they arrive.

To find out more about The Adventures of Shuggy, visit the game’s official site. Alternatively, you can purchase the Xbox 360 version through the Xbox Live Marketplace for 800 Microsoft Points.
