Racing games have been around for as long as consoles and usually follow the classic tried and tested archetypes. It is for this reason that when racing games come to light that try to offer much more I get especially interested.
The developers over at I-FRIQIYA have come up with a whole new take on racing, with their latest game Fuel Overdose that really tries to engage players greater than ever before. Be sure to check out their latest trailer below:
I find it very interesting that I-FRIQIYA have come up with the idea of basing Fuel Overdose around three core game elements, not all common in racing games either. The three pillars of Fuel Overdose are:
- Action – achieved by including a large array of weapons into the game, each of which are upgradeable. Alongside this expect to see interesting new weapons such as grapple and a whole fighting system that offers unique skills, really setting this game apart from the crowd.
- Tactical – In Fuel Overdose expect every choice to carry both risk and reward. The game is not open to luck and instead relies on stringent resource management for the vehicles and weapons.
- Racing – At its core Fuel Overdose is indeed a racing game. It carried all the mechanics necessary to test your skill and encourage you to better your own abilities. With a diverse garage of vehicles that are all customizable expect to get your fill of racing here.
Fuel Overdose does sound a very interesting combination of themes, mixed together to create a whole new style of racer. It does sound very ambitious, however coming from a very talented group I am sure the ideas will measure up in-game.
So far two of the three release trailers have been announced so expect to see the “Tactical” one soon. It should be an interesting reveal as it will shed more light on the more abstract notions of the game.
Fuel Overdose will be available from the PlayStation store next year, although no release date has been announced.
