Went2Play’s stealth horror sequel, Genetic Garden 2, looks delectable while in its development stages, as if a merger of Metal Gear Solid and Resident Evil.
In a recent interview with IndieGraph, the the three man development team behind Genetic Garden 2 talked about how the Czech Game Maker Community “Velkej Chytrak” competition inspired the idea of merging elements from Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid series, Silent Hill and Alone in the Dark into birthing Genetic Garden 2.
“The inspiration of the competition was “magic colors and puzzle games”. So I created a bug that could turn into different colors. From there the character of Alex, and everything else started to arise spontaneously, including game mechanics.”
The game follows the pursuits of one man, a Alex Born, who returns to the Genetic Garden – a military genetics experiment gone wrong. Combining action, puzzle elements and the occasional horror atmosphere, Genetic Garden 2 has the player snapping necks, blowing up genetic monstrosities and traversing dangerous environments.
At the current moment in time, Went2Play are finishing up the game’s Czech version before moving on to the English translation. They say that the plan is also to update the art for the original Genetic Garden and translate it to English, still in its freeware state. They also intend to start a Kickstarter project soon to get some additional funding so they can release the game as far and wide as possible.
You can find out more information on Genetic Garden 2 in the Indiegraph interview and the game’s official website.
