The Game: Takeover
Developed by: IriySoft
I was a big fan of Kingdom Rush, when the game first became popular last year. I liked how silly and accessible the game was. Takeover shares a lot of similarities with Kingdom Rush, but where Kingdom Rush was more tower-defense, Takeover has players much more involved with the game, making the experience sometimes frantic, but really fun.
Takeover has players constructing resource generators, training troops, and taking over cities, within moments of starting to play. The game is incredibly easy to get into. Each level represents one area on the main map, and players have to take over each area individually, to win the game. Of course, there are already other inhabitants within these areas who will not be evicted quietly. Takeover offers players a choice between three playable factions: the Icedales Cult, the Duchy of Westaria, or the Crimson Horde. However, Takeover forces players to start as the Duchy of Westaria, as the tutorial level involves their story line. The other two factions become unlocked after completing the second level.
Each faction has its own abilities and units. For example, as the Duchy of Westaria, players will have the ability to summon in a giant demi-god to assist your foot-soldiers on the roads, or there is the lightning attack that deals massive amounts of damage to enemy units within a selected area.
Roads string together the towns and castles through each area. Players send their recruited troops down these roads, to assault the enemy towns and fortifications. The more towns you control, the more farms you can build, increasing the number of army groups you can have at one time. If the population level is adequate, or if the player feels like playing strategically, they can choose to construct a mine (which increases gold income) or a obelisk (increases mana regeneration for magic abilities) instead.
Depending on how quickly a level is completed, player will attain rewards and skill points which they can use to upgrade their towns, units, and abilities.
Play Takeover, today, for free, on Kongregate! I am still playing!
Do you guys think Takeover is better than Kingdom Rush?
