It is my pleasure to announce that the Indie Game Mag will start covering mainstream game titles next week. It has been great covering the indie gaming scene, but nothing beats the big console games from Activision, EA and Valve! We will still cover the top indie games on Steam, but we are hoping that by covering some of the bigger video games out there we can increase our exposure and expand the readership of the magazine. This change will extend into the magazine as well, so expect to see great game’s like BioShock: Infinite, Mass Effect 3, and Mortal Kombat in the pages of future issues.

Our Mainstream coverage will start with a preview of Valve’s Portal 2 followed up by a review of the highly anticipated sequel. We can tell you that Co-Op is pretty insane with 4 portals and all of the new gels and puzzle elements! Portal 2 hits PC, Mac, Xbox 360 and PS3 on April 21st.

Our website will continue to offer the same great coverage – just with a smaller focus on the lesser-known indie games. We hope to continue to grow our fantastic community of avid gamers and look forward to this amazing opportunity to expand the reach of our magazine!

“but nothing beats the big console games from Activision, EA and Valve!”

And this from a Indie Game Magazine? Where is your sense of indie elitism?

“we are hoping that by covering some of the bigger video games out there we can increase our exposure and expand the readership of the magazine.”

Actually that is not how it often works, their are already magazines that cover all games, the only reason I was at all interested in this site at all was its focus on indie games.

Now I see no reason to read anything from this site.

Yeah, wow … April’s fool 4 weeks late … I was thinking “That’s about the dumbest thing they could do!”

How about adding a sports page and a stock ticker to the website? :)

I actually think I commented too soon – I should have waited and messed with some more people, but I felt guilty

Good move actually because my first reaction was a willingness to abandon IGM if that move was made. Since you have a business to build it’s probably not a good idea to scare off customers. ;)

But after the shock I decided to give you a little push, I hope you get some extra traffic from this post:
