Indie Intermission Sunday Round Up : When Genres Collide

As we seem to be getting closer to Christmas time really seems to be flying by. It has been yet another great week for gaming with Fuck This Jam finishing and the Charity Game Jam running over this weekend there, as always has been a lot going on in the gaming world. Be sure to check out this weeks round up below. As always clicking the title will to take you to the page and clicking the image will take you to the game, enjoy.

Monday: ’Skullreaction’ For When Explosions Just Wont Quite Cut It

A very fun little game in which you explode skeletons encouraging mayhem and high scores. Very simple little idea but it plays out fantastically in this fast paced arcade styling that will keep you entertained on this cold Sunday.

Tuesday: ’To Fall…’ To Love… To Satire…

Created for Fuck This Jam it really is a great satire of the whole art/ abstract genre albeit very subtle. Very short but very amusing and well worth your time if you have grown tired of the arty games. A fun little time sink.

Wednesday: Pop It Lock It, ‘Pop N Spawn’ It

A nice idea for online strategy.  The concept it very simple but don’t let this fool you as mastering it really is very challenging but rewarding. Play against the computer to learn the basics and then take the fight online to battle fellow humans and see how badly you get destroyed, but you always learn something. If you are a fan of turn based strategy Pop N Spawn is well worth ago.

Thursday:  ‘Dream Of Pixels’ Turning Tetris On Its Head

A novel take on the classic Tetris model. By turning the whole concept of Tetris on its head you really get a nice new game and one I have not come across personally. A nice reimagining of a classic that is just as fun as the original. A must for any puzzle junkie.

Friday: I Hope That Wasn’t A ‘T.Y.P.O’

When combining two genres you wind up with something so crazy it is hard to put down. T.Y.P.O combines typing proficiency games with tower defence and manages to do so fantastically. Created for Fuck This Jam the games scope is very limited, however I really could imagine this concept to be taken much further creating a full game out of it.

This concludes another week in gaming. Expect more jam games next week as Fuck This Jam really has made some gems and with the Chairty Game Jam running this weekend there is even more to check there. I hope you have enjoyed my game picks for the week and if you have any suggestions or comments be sure to leave them below.Enjoy your Sunday and see you back here in the same place tomorrow.
