War of the Roses is Paradox Interactive’s latest title. The game is set during the bloody conflicts which took place between the houses of Lancaster and York for the throne of England, in the late 15th Century.
War of the Roses is loaded with features that will satisfy that medieval-combat itch you’ve been suffering with since the season finale of Game of Thrones.
With an impressive arsenal of weapons, longbows to lances, players are almost guaranteed to be able to find something sharp to poke their opponents with which suits their personal play style. The weapons themselves can be customized to cater to a player’s desires with the selection of fighting styles, blade types, and metal types, all being customizable. On top of the assortment of weapon choices, players also get access to over 30 play-style changing perks that grant players access to unique abilities like “eagle eye” or “shield bash.”
Paradox Interactive gives players the power to customize their soldiers armor, too. There are over a dozen customizable helmets which players can paint and attach crests, plumes, coifs, and visors to. The body armor is broken into three standard categories, (light, medium, and heavy) and each type of armor comes with its own set of benefits and shortcomings.
Multiplayer in War of the Roses takes place over seven historically inspired war zones, straight out of the pages of a history book. With matches capable of hosting 64 player battles in both Team Deathmatch and Conquest game modes, players can expect to level up, attain new titles, and unlock new weapons and gear, in no time.
