Mountainwheel Games have released a teaser for their upcoming “online third person multiplayer action game”, Stone Rage, which is bound to get your imagination going absolutely wild.
Stone Rage is already granted a special status due to its setting, if nothing else. Set during within the Pleistocene and Eocene eras, Stone Rage will feature prehistoric tribalism, landscapes and animals; in other words a whole prehistoric world for you to explore. Not quite the prehistoric RPG that we crave beyond anything, Stone Rage focuses on multiplayer combat in which you can build up a single character to unlock new weapon layouts, upgrades and personalized character customizations.
The available characters are much more interesting that your average multiplayer game as well as you can choose from either a human class, neanderthal tribe or animal genus! Yes, animals, of which we can see huge boars, mammoths and glyptodons in the concept art alone. Game modes revealed so far include survival, team objective and deathmatch.
The paragraph below does a good enough job of describing the game’s premise further – we are actually drooling at the thought:
“Every character has a set of unique traits and abilities, as well as unlockables to modify their effects and tactical usage, ensuring that no two games will play the same, and no one player is by default more or less dangerous than another. Situation and opportunity play as much a part in winning a game as how well players use their character skills and environment to their advantage. Since tribal skirmishes and hunts take place across a wide stretch of land, players will encounter sprawling forests with prowling smilodon, vast plains with marching mammoth herds and gastornis scavenging the remains left behind by the prey of dire wolves.”
Released on Christmas Eve was Stone Rage‘s first teaser video, outlining the game’s animations and brutality and gore. Check it out below:
Stone Rage is being developed in Cry Engine 3 for PC with no release date in sight, however, the team note that they are working hard on releasing the first alpha gameplay demo for the near future. More information can be found at the official website and the IndieDB page.
