Alright space simulator fans, it’s time to catch the solar wind in your sails and take flight. Keen Software House has just announced the beta release of their space-shooter sim, Miner Wars 2081. Keen Software House also released a new video to their fans, which you can watch below.

As well as a story arc featuring 31 missions, Miner Wars 2081 boasts single-player, co-operative and competitive multiplayer modes with RPG elements which are going to be complimented by Miner Wars MMO, slated for release late 2013. Within fully destructible open-world environments spanning  an entire solar system, players will operate their advanced asteroid carving ship to mine and trade in order to survive the rugged asteroid belts that cross the galaxy.

As well as the freedom of the sandbox universe, the story campaign will introduce you to many other types of missions, such as rescue, exploration, revenge, base defense, theft, transportation, stealth, search and destroy, pure harvesting, and racing.

You can look forward to Miner Wars 2081‘s release towards the end of this year, and the Miner Wars MMO projected release in 2013. For more information on the game and how to get your hands on the beta, you can visit the official website here or check out the Keen Software House homepage.
