Although for many people 2013 is still a fair way off, for many indie developers now is the time to start ramping up production and getting ready for the new year and of course what the new year brings in March. The IGF (Independent Game Festival).
There is only a few days left for studios to enter games into the main category, closing on the 17th of this month. I am sure it is all hands to the pumps in getting everything sorted for this prestigious event, across the many indie studios.
One studio that has announced its IGF trailer is Silver Dollar Games with their elusive One Finger Death Punch. It is a game that seems to hide in the background, forever in development, but hopefully in light of this submission to the IGF we may end up seeing a release next year.
The IGF trailer (seen above) shows a full two minutes of action packed Kung Fu gameplay footage, with some awesome scene changes, weapons and combos, it really does look to be a fantastically fun game. One Finger Death Punch was a game I had began to believe was never going to finish development, as very little was ever said about the development phase. With my principal concern being the studios questionable previous releases with games like Who’s The Daddy? and So Many Girls So Little Time, was this going to be a serious title?
One Finger Death Punch really does seem to break from the studios, interesting past. Showing a great level of creativity and possibly a new direction for the studio overall.
One Finger Death Punch has been teased for what seems like an age, with each video making it look progressively better than the last. I am sure it will go down with much praise at the IGF for its innovative quirky style. Although only time will tell if this title is ever found on the Xbox Live Arcade anytime soon.
