As we are in the month of horror it is of course always pertinent to look at the up and coming horror scene and Montas from indie developers Organic Humans looks to be next years big horror title.
A once heavily underdeveloped genre atmospheric survival adventure games have continued to boom recently. This style of game have always held a special place for me from the early days of games like Myst to the more recent incarnations in games such as Amnesia and Fibrillation.
Organic Humans are trying to really encapsulate this new game in all its creepy and unnerving elements. The idea is to bring the player into the game greatly and make you feel the characters paranoia, fears and thoughts. Check out the gameplay trailer below:
It is a very clever idea and with the promise of a very strong narrative over the top I am sure that Montas will definitely intrigue and beguile all who play it.
Set in the city of Montas you awake with very little introduction to the mysterious events that have been plaguing Joseph Walker. A humble accountant working for a large firm in the city you idea of normality is but a distant memory.
Haunted by nightmares of fictitious events and cursed with unsettling hallucinations Joseph Walkers whole idea of reality is falling down around him. With police asking questions about a slew of recent murders Joseph Walkers idea of normally is going to sharply change.
The game itself looks very well designed with a great deal of time and effort spent looking over the different aspects of the game. The setting looks very engaging and creepy with the aim to really bring something special to this genre.
The setting is only going to be further enhanced by Montas supporting the Oculus Rift upon release. This design idea is perfect and will of course bring players into the game much more than ever before creating a truly unique immersive experience.
Montas will be released next year and I for one am really looking forward to seeing how it turns out as the studio seem determined to make Montas something very unique and enthralling.
