Mode 7 Games has finally caved under pressure from the community and is set to release the acclaimed Frozen Synapse on iPad. The portable version of the tactical shooter will be released in the first half of 2012. An exact date and price is yet to be determined, but Mode 7 Games is set to keep fans up to date.
Frozen Synapse on iPad will not only feature the full multiplayer element that fans have grown to know and love, but will also support cross-platform multiplayer. Thankfully, there have been few arguments over whether it is better to use a mouse or fingers for control. Naturally, Frozen Synapse will look and play in the same manner.
Mode 7 Games realised that porting Frozen Synapse to the iPad wouldn’t be too much of a challenge and had ideas regarding working with the interface. The feedback from the community led Mode 7 Games to believe that an iPad port would work, even if it was solely purchased by members of the community.
This does not spell the end of Frozen Synapse appearing on other handheld platforms. The title may be developed for Android depending on the results of the iPad version. In addition, support for current platforms is not going to be abandoned. Mode 7 Games was keen to point out that another team member has been hired so that it can be given more attention and be updated more efficiently.
