Pontification

Pontification is a 2D platformer coming soon for Windows, OS X, and Linux operating systems.

Pontification tells the story of Father O’Brien, a priest who chokes to death on a peanut. Upon arriving in Limbo, Father O’Brien is devastated to discover that Heaven is not like anything he had thought it would be, and he runs into an equally distressed resident of Limbo named Lilly.

Lilly, a resident of Limbo for the previous 106 years, and Father O’Brien set out to infiltrate the Catholic Church headquarters, The Vatican, to try and find out what else the Church has lied to them about.

With Lily as his guide, Father O’Brien makes it his goal to race to possess the Pope and reveal the truth about the Catholic Church to the world during the annual address in St. Peter’s Square for Easter Sunday. Of course, two angry spirits will not be able to enter the most holy of buildings unimpeded. There will be numerous destructive forces set against Father O’Brian, such as protective spirits and dangerous obstacles.

Team Pontification promises to have the first gameplay footage of Pontification out soon, but in the meantime they have released a handful of screenshots to tide over those curious. Over the past six months the team has been busy porting Pontification’s engine, to allow the game to launch simultaneously across PC, OS X, and Linux users.

This game is a tad anti-Catholic. Whoops, I meant extremely anti-Catholic. Make it about Moslems and threats about heads rolling would elicit apologies from the publisher. Make it about Jews and there’d be an op-ed in the New York Times. But Catholics? Who cares, right?

From that small write up you have decided it is extremly anti-Catholic. There is not really enough information to come to that conclusion. Yea it is in the Vatican and the goal is to Possess the Pope to announce to the world the secrets and find out what they have been lied to about but that could end up being about cake or cats.

I see it as being no different to some episodes of South Park or Family guy or even Kevin Smiths Dogma
