A new twin stick shooter has just today entered beta testing phase, it looks crazy and sounds insane but seems to be a whole load of fun. The Man In The Cape is an almost one man project from Anthony Nichols, who programmed, designed and drew all the art for the game.
With only the music being done externally this project really has been a one man effort and so far it does look and sound very interesting.
The Man In The Cape is a story about one simple mans disillusion with the idea of superheroes. Mr Granderson owns his own Electronics repair shop, A simple man who keeps himself to himself but works hard to keep his business afloat.
The problem began when superheros started using his rooftop to stand on and look over the city. This has gone on long enough and Mr Granderson decided to take the law into his own hands and constructs a vast underground superhero dungeon.
You play as popular superhero The Man In The Cape who unfortunately get trapped in this high tech dungeon, with your sole purpose to escape and bring the unruly Mr Granderson to justice.
The game itself seems rather huge with over 55 rooms to test your true metal as you strive to make it out of this dungeon. That include harrowing boss battles, and are populated with 20+ different enemies.
With plenty of weapons to help you combat this army of superhero killing machines and a whole host of treasure to help strengthen you this game sounds very vast and well put together. There is even a hardcore mode if you feel you are up to this intense challenge (not for the faint hearted)!
Although the overall look is rather basic, with simplistic graphics the animation quality does look rather good. The game also seems to embrace the more comedic side to this whole endeavor, and even includes some psychotic businessmen!
If you are looking for a new dual-stick shooter than The Man In The Cape may just be fore you. It has just entered beta now and can be purchased for only $2.99 from the official site here.
