Eris, is an open-world sci-fi shooter, combining elements from RPGs, tower-defense games, and first-person shooters. The developers have just announced that the game is now fully in alpha testing.
Eris strands players on an alien planet. The only hope of escape is a mothership, stored in an alien stronghold. To enter the stronghold, players must capture the towers surrounding the stronghold, in order to weaken the stronghold’s defenses.
Players can upgrade their spacesuit with jet-packs, for increased mobility, or upgrade their armor to tank all the damage they want to. Along with the armor, players have access to a number of attacks which can freeze, burn, or electrocute enemies. These attacks are based out of the spacesuit’s construction.
The developers claim that Eris will have multiplayer functionality, and up to seven players can go head-to-head in battle.
This past week, the developers have worked on adding in additional elemental attacks. They also added in hand grenades to really “spice up the combat”. In the video below, you will see a bit of spaceship combat. The developer commented that he is still working on a few things with the spaceship, notably the decision to not include cross-hairs, and how he decided to use the mouse to control the ship.
