Super Puzzle Platformer Deluxe

Andrew Morrish released a free flash game back in June called Super Puzzle Platformer which proved pretty popular and quite rightfully so. Now Andrew has been encouraged enough to make another version with loads more upgrades, or as he puts it, it’s “evolving into a whole new beast”.

Super Puzzle Platformer is a simple enough game in itself – it plays like Tetris except that you control a character who must dodge spikes and the falling blocks. Instead of rotating the shapes, you simply shoot them to score points from matching colored blocks – with enough points you actually level up and access more powerful weapons. The goal of the game, quite simply, is get generate the highest score possible.

The newly announced Deluxe edition of the game will feature, most prominently:

New levels with their own way “of trying to crush you/impale you/set you on fire.”
New obstacles – “If spikes and drills weren’t dangerous enough for you, now you have rising lava, giant spiders, fire balls, and other terrible things trying to stop you.”
New characters to unlock – “8 new playable characters each with their own special weapons and powers to break blocks.”

Last but not least is the addition of a multiplayer mode as well! Hurrah!

“The multiplayer is one vs one, three strikes and you’re out, and person with the highest score at the end wins. Creating combos sends obstacles to the opposite player, bigger the combo – bigger the obstacle.”

The Deluxe edition sounds like it will add a lot more on to the already great original Super Puzzle Platformer and we cannot wait to hear more.
