Celsius Game Studios have released a new teaser for their upcoming space trading game, Drifter, which features music from Danny Baranowsky of Canabalt, Super Meat Boy and The Binding of Isaac fame.
If you’re a fan of games in the ilk of Elite then Drifter is one that should catch your eye. Pitched as a large scale action strategy game, Drifter features an expanse procedurally generated scape of space, in fact, it’s 100,000 light years across with an impressive 10,000 stars contained within. Add to this space pirates, weird factions and miners and you have something interesting every step of the way.
We think Drifter looks so good that we actually named it one of the 10 games that will surprise you this year for obvious reasons. The gameplay will involve trading in just about anything to amass your fortune, then attempting to defend it from the space bandits, you’ll want to keep upgrading your ship for that.
Anyway, there is a new GDC teaser of Drifter that is worth watching, if not just for the wonderful soundtrack from Danny Baranowsky, check it out below:
Drifter will be released for iOS devices sometime later in 2012, the aim is for the summer. You can find out more information on the game over on the official website.
