KittyRPG

Terry Cavanagh vowed to complete the development of his unfinished works in the New Year but we didn’t foresee the axe being slung at perhaps the cutest of all of his projects, KittyRPG.

It seems the old adage, “curiosity killed the cat”, still rings true to this very day and it spares no victims, no matter how cute. In his latest blog post, Cavanagh reveals that he has come to terms with the future of KittyRPG be as it is “fundamentally broken in its current form”. Today marks the day that the cute neon-green kitty is laid to rest, bless his sweet soul.

Cavanagh says that he figures there is no way of fixing the game other than scrapping it and starting over and as this is perceived as only a “smaller project”, it’s time to move on to greater things.

“I’m not sure why I stuck with it this long, actually – it was never something I was all that excited about.” says Cavanagh. “I think I mostly just liked the cat thing.”

That’s the internet for you – cats have a certain grip over people. Still, the battle log reveals the game would have had some charm, with the cats ‘purring’ and ‘nyanning’ (just made that word up) at each other.

KittyRPG Battle Log

Cavanagh closes by stating that he will construct a chat room at the popular indie developer meet up at CB2 Bistro in Cambridge tomorrow that will contain the code from KittyRPG and move on, this does mean that someone could pick up the game and eventually release it in some form. There’s still hope yet for you kitty!
