Phr00t is happy to announce that their futuristic, open-world first-person action-RPG, 3079, has made its way on to Desura in all its Minecraft-with-guns resembling glory!
Call us crazy, but considering the current popularity of both of these things, Minecraft + first-person shooter surely equals big success. That is why we are keeping an eye on 3079 – a game that looks and feels like Minecraft but incorporates elements from Fallout 3 and first-person shooters in general.
This really is no Minecraft clone as it incorporates the best elements from both RPG’s and FPS’ and merges them with Minecraft. So basically, you have a smooth, ‘lag-free’ FPS experience with headshots and dismemberment, “smart” AI (will need some convincing on that one) and a proper, three-part storyline. Then you add on top your procedurally generated environments and quests for “endless” open-world exploration and things to do. You also have a skill system to upgrade, amongst other things, engineering, camouflage and charisma; and let’s add futuristic weapons and items procedurally generated for endless character equipment.
Oh and did we mention that it has fully functional multiplayer with Twitter integration. How is that for a RPG-FPS-Minecraft sandwich? Bite down on that one! Crunchy!
You want to know more though, right? Check out the description and trailer below:
“You arrive on a planet experiencing constant war. It is your duty to find out why the warring factions cannot find peace on their own & hopefully restore it yourself. All areas, buildings, items, quests and characters are randomly generated. You will find unique lands & challenges.”
You can try the extended demo of 3079 for Windows, Mac and Linux from either Desura or the official website. If you really like it and need more then you need to make your way over to Desura and purchase the beta while it’s 28% off the final price (£7.99) at a pretty £5.75.
