The Incident from Big Bucket Software is a fast paced retro platformer with some physics thrown in for good measure. The gameplay is simple and addictive. Crap is falling from the sky and you need to run, jump, and avoid getting buried in it. You tilt your iDevice left and right to move left right, tap the screen to jump, and shake if you happen to get buried and stuck. The objective is to keep climbing while staying alive! The incident is well suited to iDevices with its simple premise and arcade gameplay. The game has all the great elements of classic NES games: chip tunes, pixel art graphics, and simple controls. The excellent 2D physics engine and touch controls spin this retro game into a modern iOS gem. At only $1.99, The Incident is one of the best indie platformers on the iPhone/iPad rivaled only by the likes of Canabalt. It’s definitely worth a look.
