We all want our own holodeck. It’s a pure and simple fact of gaming that at some point in our lives, every one of us has thought that the real world is boring and I want to go shoot some zombies like I was in a real zombie apocalypse. With the recent success of the Occulus Rift VR headset it seems that day is getting ever closer, now we can see inside the game and feel like we are in the game world. Now all we need to do is figure out how to get motion, smell, and the sense of touch down and we will have our very own- wait what do you mean someone is already doing just that?

Okay, so it’s not being built yet, however, with a good amount of help over the next month it can become a reality.  VE LLC will be launching their project on Kickstarter within the next few days and with the support of gamers worldwide, this virtual environment will become a reality. For one hour, gamers will be able to suit up and drop themselves into a video game and move around as if they were in the actual game, living the life that until then was only on the screen.

The first virtual experience offered by VE will be Project HeLa, a survival horror game that you saw parts of in the video above. While it will be awesome to finally shoot some zombies using your own two hands, for those of us unable to make the trip to Chicago an at home version of the game will also be available.

Okay Stephen, you need to write something witty here that is also relevant to gaming... I’ve been a gamer for years with consoles being my home until I went to university. After quickly running out of money and needing a way to maintain my gaming habits I ran headfirst into Indie games for the first time. I’ve never looked back. Not exactly witty, but a little honesty has never hurt anyone.
