You may remember that Devolver Digital commissioned three indie game developers to make small Serious Sam knock off games as some kind of marketing thing for Serious Sam 3: BFE – we just saw it as a way to have some fun games thrown our way. Perhaps the most impressive creation to come out of that endeavor was Mommy’s Best Games’ effort, Serious Sam Double D which was a sidescrolling shooter which stood out for its gun stacker and over-the-top gameplay.
It was a PC exclusive release at the time but that’s about to change as Devolver have sealed a release for the game on Xbox Live Arcade ahead of Serious Sam 3′s release on Xbox 360 and PS3. It’s not just a straight port though, oh no. This is Serious Sam Double D: XXL and as such will contain more levels, two player co-op and even more weapons plus the standard ones are upgradeable. Madness but great news!
There’s no release date for Serious Sam Double D: XXL quite yet, but the news of its existence will most certainly suffice for now. If you haven’t already, now would be a very good time to check out Serious Sam Double D by purchasing it on Steam or checking out its official website.
