Fight Stained Glass Monsters in ‘Stained’, Out Today

Developer, RealAxis Software, announced today the launch of Stained, a sidescrolling action game set in an ancient, mysterious castle featuring detailed 3D environments with a continually changing game world.

In the world of Stained, players take on the role of a mysterious figure, cloaked in black. The cloaked figure has found itself lost in a haunted castle, where monsters made of stained glass roam free. Luckily for the player, the figure is armed with a big scythe which it can use to hack apart these glass monstrosities. However, be warned, the glass monsters are notorious for piecing themselves back together.

Stained isn’t all about fighting monsters, there is a healthy dose of puzzle-solving included within the games levels. The mysterious castle offers plenty of its own secrets, waiting to be discovered by the player. After all, it is rumored that a vast treasure is stashed somewhere within the castle.

One of the most unique features of Stained is how events are determined by the combination of glass pieces that litter the ground. Depending on what is laying where, different enemies can be encountered from room to room.

The scythe the player is armed with can be swapped around with different types of scythes. For example, one scythe can be used to slide down walls (as seen in the trailer) while another deals extra combat damage to foes.

Stained is available on PC through Desura and Gamestop for $9.99. Also, vote for the game in Steam’s Greenlight program.

A demo is available on the official website, here.
