Today seems pretty dull doesn’t it? Especially as it is a Friday, but that’s about to change as we have been scouring the net for free indie games to add a little color to your life. This week is a broad mix of things, but they all seem quiet peculiar in their own way. That can probably be said every week of our picks, but seriously – a lonely malformed experiment, a Japanese schoolgirl with a super power and a guy who can’t reach doors without his shadow. That’s pretty odd.
Project Celsius by Celsius Team
Project Celsius was made by students as part of the Videogame Creation and Design Master Degree at Universitat Pompeu Fabra – pretty impressive work we’re sure you’ll agree.
“The game takes place in a space ship full of different traps and alien creatures. The main character, Neville, will have the power of charging its suit of ice and fire, in order to move through the different levels will have to use this powers wisely.”
Artillery F by Maelron
Playing as the atypical Japanese schoolgirl with a magical power, you are tasked with slashing up robots, collecting items, talking to odd people and levelling up in this sidescrolling adventure.
“Play the role of a girl who was born as a decendant of a great magical power. She begin searching for the Four Rings that contains the magical power which belong to her.”
Starflight – The Lost Colony by Starflight fans
Taken its cues from the old EA Starflight games, this is a continuation of the essence of those games which was started by a small group of fans in 2006, the game is currently in beta but very playable.
“Starflight – The Lost Colony is a sci-fi adventure game for a single player with space exploration, character development, alien races to encounter, and an engrossing storyline that unfolds as the player gradually explores the galaxy.”
Me And My Shadow by Luka Horvat
This is a fairly original puzzle platformer in which you have to record your moves so that your shadow-self can help you progress through the levels.
“The author open sourced the game under GNU GPL. A small team picked it up and started to develop it further. The game has an interesting concept and rather unique gameplay.”
Abandoned by Joep
This is a very peculiar entry from Jeop in which you must explore the environment as you run out of oxygen, some interesting ideas in here for sure.
“Abandoned is an adventuregame about abandonment and loneliness. The player controls the result of a failed genetical experient that tries to find the exit to the lab it was born in. But all rooms are similar, and there is nobody around to help him out.”
Remember to check out last week’s picks for more free indie games if you need them that badly!
