‘Frozen Hearth’ Sometimes Santa Brings You Presents, Sometimes You Have To Fight For Them. This Is The Latter

The festive season has thoroughly set in now and amidst the cold weather and sitting around the fire you will no doubt we wanted to play some games. Of course you don’t want to be out in the biting cold and what could be better than a game that actually brings the festive cheer to your computer?

Frozen Hearth was released just a few weeks ago by the Australian development team Epiphany Games and the team seem to really be embracing the Christmas spirit (even if Christmas In Australia is a somewhat odd affair) with their latest addition to the game. The name of the game is Capture the Present and it hopes to be a fast and frantic new holiday addition to this stunning new RTS.

Frozen Hearth for anyone who has managed to miss it is a brand new RTS game in a similar vein to that of Age Of Empires, Settlers, or Warcraft. You are given control over a struggling  human settlement who are slowly losing their land to the frost giants. The campaign focuses around this idea and pulls out many compelling story elements throughout, whilst brining back the hero concept implemented in the Warcarft series.

This new Christmas themed map is in the form of a giant snowflake, and allows for up to four players to play in teams, or as a standard deathmatch mode. The gameplay is similar to that of a capture the flag style game, in which you must collect randomly scattered presents and bring them back to your base, A Christmas tree -what else?

The other team will not allow you to simply take the presents and will strive to prevent you acquiring these festive treats. This is achieved by throwing snowballs at the enemies and trying to sneak off with their presents.

It sounds a very fun concept and will no doubt be very frantic making it a great addition to the already fantastic new RTS.

I love it when game studios add extra Christmas content, it’s always such a great touch and I am really happy to see it added here.

If you have played Frozen Hearth be sure to check out the official site for more information. If you want to buy it you can from Gamersgate, Impulsedriven, Gamestop, Desura, or GetGames.

However if you want to see it on Steam Greenlight it over here now.
