‘Miner Wars 2081′ Gets An Update, Launches In One Month

Today, Keen Software announced not only an update to the Miner Wars 2081 beta, but also that that Miner Wars 2081 now has a set release date of December 1st, 2012.

The beta update, which rolls out today, features 31 missions, 100 handcrafted space cities, and tons of procedurally generated sectors.

Miner Wars 2081 is a sandbox space-shooter survival game where all the planets in our solar system were nearly destroyed in the Solar Event of 2070, and now humanity must scrape together an existence by mining asteroids for resources. Competing factions battle one another for the most resource-rich asteroids, adding to the already high level of danger that comes with drilling into asteroids. Just ask Bruce Willis about that.

Miner Wars 2081 features a fully-destructible persistent game world. Players must strategically manage their fuel, oxygen usage, ammunition, and ore, to ensure their survival. There is a single-player and co-op campaign that offers mission-types like escort, base defense, search and destroy, and more. Also included is an online deathmatch mode where up to sixteen players can battle it out.

Look for Miner Wars 2081 at the beginning of next month, on the official website, and thanks to all of the voters, Miner Wars 2081 passed through Steam Greenlight and will also be available on Steam. The game will launch for Windows only, on December 1st.

Pre-ordering the game now gets buyers into the beta, which they can start playing immediately.
