Twisted 2D Fighter ‘Skullgirls’ Coming to PC In July, Available To Preorder

The PC doesn’t get nearly enough fighting games. Yeah, it’s a genre that practically requires a decent gamepad or an arcade stick, but that’s what USB ports are for! While Capcom has been showing us desktop gamers a bit of love lately, pickings have been otherwise slim these past few years. Thankfully, Reverge Labs are getting ready to pour us some summer Down-Forward-Punch with Skullgirls, which landed recently on consoles, accompanied by a wave of generally quite favourable reviews.

While there’s been some controversy (personally, I think it’s all rather overblown) regarding the all-female cast and art style, the game has been hailed as being particularly tightly designed and ideal for competitive tournament play, and as such will be featured at Evo 2012. Despite the competitive focus, it also has a huge tutorial mode, teaching newcomers everything from the basic points of fighting game theory to high-level tricks and air-juggle combos. The PC version is due out next month, and the game will support Steamworks, so even if you buy it via Gamersgate (which is currently taking preorders at $15, with a bonus recolour pack for Parasoul), you’ll get a Steam activation key.
