Indie Game: The Movie set to feature at Sundance
Indie Game: The Movie is set to make its worldwide premiere at the Sundance film festival. The documentary, focusing on video games, their creators and the craft itself, has been selected as part of the World Documentary Competition at the festival in 2012. Last year, just 14 documentaries from 796 submissions were selected for competition in this category.
The film tells the story of Braid, the creation process of FEZ from Phil Fish’s perspective after working in near solitude for four years, and the emotional story of Edmund McMillen and Tommy Refenes as they created Super Meat Boy. Indie Game: The Movie explores the passion, drives and dreams that form the backbone of video games. The creators of the documentary aimed to create something new that was meaningful and purposeful.
After Sundance the movie will be screened in Winnipeg, Canada on February 3rd 2012. This will be followed by a full preview screening tour. More details are to be revealed in relation to this tour. It has also been announced that digital and DVD releases will be available after the festival screenings and tour.
