‘Metroid: Coven’ Lives On, Exclusive Preview Builds Offered For Funding

Despite stopping and starting over the last couple of years, Metroid: Coven is still being worked on by the original developer who is now looking for some funding to keep things going.

A hobby of two years now, EchoJerichoX’s Metroid: Coven is a fan project which takes the classic gameplay of the Metroid series and turns it into a top down shooter. Over the years, many team members have come and gone, real life has pervaded development and things have generally gone from bad to worse. However, the originator is back on track with the game and is currently working on a new AI demo which will “really bring the game to life”.

Many things are still throwing the future of the project in the air but the developer says that this is a project they are not going to let slide, not after all this time. So, if you want to help out the developer you can head over to their 8-Bit Funding project page and donate some money to help out – they’re only asking for $50 but we know you can do better than that.

For a minimum donation of $5, you will get access to exclusive preview builds of the game that will not be open to anyone else. On top of that you will be able to use any sprite, sound, room, tileset or other resources that are used in the game, so long as you give credit.

More information on Metroid: Coven and older builds of the game can be found on the official website.
