Write for IGM

Here at IGM, we want as many people to embrace indie games as possible. If you are interested in playing some free indie games and writing about them for our website and magazine, we would love to have you.   Here’s how the process works:

1. Register with the Website
2. Use our contact form below to email us a Short Bio and use the subject: Write for IGM
3. Start Submitting your indie related articles by using the Community Story Submission form
4. Get published on the website and Magazine!

Discuss/Ask Questions about Writing for IGM on Our Forums

Those steps above will get you started immediately since it takes us time to process all our email.  We typically try writers out on the Indie Game Demo Review Panel.  After a writer is proved reliable, we’ll contact you about reviewing an indie game for the magazine. We’ll send you a list of indie games that you can choose from to review and we’ll provide you with a free full version.  Write your review (500-1500 Words) and be sure to score graphics, gameplay, sound, and lasting appeal on a scale of 1-10.  Give the game a final grade and percentage score and email or post your review.

   I can’t agree more about this game. Goo is just too much fun. The art is fantastic. The sound is perfect.

   I downloaded the demo at Beanstalk.com and bought the game before my demo was up.

   Yay!

   Nicely summed up. Its a fabulous little game, I think a lot of people will agree that its a little counter intuitive to start with but its devotion to a fun, quick game is excellent.

   I’ve still got the demo sitting in my steam account. After hearing a few impassioned pleas I downloaded it full intending to get round to it, and failed. And I did so adore Darwinina.

   A series of good points. I’m interested to know if this game is likely to convert those who weren’t such big fans of Darwinia. Other than that, I’m definitely tempted to run a purchase.

   Play past the first level and you will see some interesting gameplay mechanics.
   This is a great game with many challenges ahead.

   Eversion is awesome. But yeah, you really, really need to play past the first few levels. The game is difficult, but short. Fun, though.

    It has Eight levels, two endings, an awesome mechanic… and yet I must come to the same conclusion. Reviewer did not do his research.

    No offense intended, but I think you owe it to the game to play it through.

    “Eversion is a very odd and brightly colored platformer” – yeah right. Did you notice the intro screen that says it’s “not suitable for children”? That’s not a joke, and I’m afraid you’ve missed the point by a mile and a half.

    Wow, shame on the reviewer. I’m embarassed to even be posting here, but I gotta agree: EPIC FAIL!

    This game has wonderful depths and I doubt the reviewer even downloaded it… probably just saw the screenshots and posted a quick “review” to get ad money.

    Well, I’m not sure I can trust this site anymore, because it’s obvious you don’t play the games you “review” – I’d like to like you guys, but you don’t have much in the way of credibility after that epic failure of a review – it’s obvious the guy didn’t even play the game. Did he play any of the other games he ‘reviewed’? You might want to review is participation in this site, because he’s only hurting it.

    Hello ‘panel’. Sorry for wasting your time with submitting my game. Please rest assured that, if i had known that you would move from full reviews to these single-paragraph blurbs, i would have skipped this site anyway…

    @caspian: why do you review games of a genre you don’t like to start with?? Secondly, the images in the gallery can be clicked for fullscreen versions.

    @Zak: didn’t the game download or install? A well-meant sorry for this, because you seemed rather motivated to try the demo

    Really fun and interesting experimental game. Blasting guys out of cannons is so much fun and the levels are simple yet enjoyable. But is it worth 10 bucks. imo no. In fact it should have been a free play game on kongregate or something. There’s not enough content. No highscore chart, no level editor (which would have been really nice) and no real reason to play again.

    Oh I just love the plain simple games that don’t want to offer realism but fun since that was the initial idea of games. Today most games try to aim for realistic graphics and well not even great physics, just graphics.
    One of my all time favorite games is fallout 2 purely because of the whole feel of the game which includes the humor, atmosphere and game play. Hope that this game is similar and I am definetl going to try to get it.

    well.. imo its not that unique.. i mean i can describe it as geometry wars meets, f-zero, mario kart and any old skool top down racing game on the NES. With that said i can safety say… its not that great. Pretty basic racing shooting game without the ability to shoot backwards ==’ The only reason i found it any bit interesting is that it presents itself as geometry wars..

    loved this game. the best in the nevermore series and exploration platforming game in general. i can say so many good things about this game but my favorite is how it rewards you for making mistakes. if you miss time your jump you dont die. in fact you cant die which is another thing i really liked. instead at times you can get “rewarded” with a mask that does absolutely nothing other than making look cool. its pointless yes but it distracts your anger and frustration when you dont know which graphic is solid or not and thats the only complaint i have for this game.

    PayPal? Not very indie. If I didn’t want this mag so much I would have given up during the convoluted and invasive sign-up process. Seriously, go find an online payments company that doesn’t feed money to a big evil monopoly like eBay. It’s ruining your indie image.

    How is Paypal not indie? Other Indie use paypal too (Wolfire for Overgrowth preorders, 2dboy for World of Goo Preorders and Crayon Physics Deluxe just to name a few). Why? Because Paypal gives a higher % back to the developer. We use other providers too, but paypal is the best for our subscriptions because they take the smallest cut away from indies. Every cent counts.

    However, the Vizier of Kund has other plans. He is in love with Avi and realizes that if he can marry Avi, he will be the future king of Kund and may be one day of the entire region.

    Meanwhile, Vraz unaware of Vizier’s plan agrees to Baapji’s condition and the game begins…
