Amazing Ants

No, that’s not the tagline to a 1950′s sci-fi movie, but the announcement that Below Zero Games has launched their first game, Amazing Ants, to the public.

Below Zero Games compares Amazing Ants to Pac Man, in that it is also features top-down maze gameplay. Though instead of ghosts, players must avoid the other species of Ants. If you choose to play as the Black Ants, you avoid the Red Ants. If you play as the Red Ants, you’ll have to avoid the Black Ants.

Amazing Ants

Below Zero Games crafted a very dramatic storyline for both Ant factions. The Black Ants face invasion of their ancestral Back Yard from the Red Ants who were stowaways within a pile of firewood. Playing as the Red Ants puts players in a scenario where they must evacuate their forest home and relocate, all while being harassed by the pesky Black Ants.

Amazing Ants also features a two-player mode, where you can go head-to-head against a friend…or enemy in specially designed mazes. Amazing Ants supports Keyboard, Number Pad, and Joystick input, so it could be a probability that two people may be able to play off of the same keyboard.

If the campaign missions are not enough for you, then you’ll be happy to know that Amazing Ants comes with a level designer. The designer is capable of creating mazes for singleplayer and co-op games. Sometime after launch, Below Zero Games promises that they will host custom maps online, so that players can share and swap their creations.
